Vivo, a cell phone company, was condemned for using software that controls its entire prepaid telephone system without authorization. According to Valor Econômico , Vivo has already had R$30 million seized from its accounts, due to non-compliance with a court order, and ordered to pay R$14 million to the French company Four J's, owner of the software.
In the sentence, the judge concluded Special Data that Vivo was unable to prove that the program had already been uninstalled. Now, the telephone company will face another enforcement action, which demands payment of another R$23 million. According to Four J'S lawyer, Hugo Orrico, Vivo continues to use the software illegally.
Heinous crimes
According to Jornal do Commercio , the Chamber's Constitution and Justice Committee may vote this week on Proposed Amendment to the Constitution 521/06, which prohibits the progressiveness of the sentence for those convicted of a heinous crime. If approved, convicts will not be able to benefit from migration to semi-open or open regimes after reaching one-sixth of their sentence. The rapporteur, deputy Robson Tuma (PFL-SP), is in favor of PEC.

Only at the end of October will the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury publish which are the ten disputes in which it will not file an appeal. Valor reports that the withdrawal was announced on August 29th, but has not yet been published. According to the prosecutor's office, the delay is due to the revision of the text to accommodate doubts raised by regional prosecutors' offices.
The 5th Business Court of Rio de Janeiro guaranteed the right of Light, an energy distributor in 31 municipalities in Rio de Janeiro, to install energy consumption meters on light posts near the addresses. According to Valor , Light can also remove those installed inside homes. The state court considered the action by Cadeccon — Citizenship and Consumer Assistance and Defense Center, which questioned the legality of the new meters, to be unfounded. The objective of the new meters is to combat energy theft.

For Panel , the measure is electoral, to please part of the farmers and aggregate votes.
